About JP

My name is Jonathan Furnari (a.k.a. JP) and I started skydiving June 6th 1999 with a tandem skydive at SkyDance SkyDiving in my hometown of Davis, CA. I returned two weekends later to begin my TAF (tandem progression) and after a total of 3 tandems, and 4 AFF levels, I graduated AFF July 18th 1999.

Skydiving awoke a strong desire for fun things in me, leading to my quitting the line of work I had been in less than six months from the date of my first jump. After a month and a half skydiving vacation to New Zealand I returned to my home DZ and took a part time job in the DZ gear store. I’ve worked in this sport ever since, it’s been the most perfect match, I can work in a field I am passionate about to support my drive to improve myself in a sport I am passionate about.

I’ve worked in gear sales and rigging facilities, I’ve shot freefall video and stills for more than 8 years, I’ve been a vertical wind tunnel instructor and coach, I’ve obtained and held USPA Coach, Tandem Instructor, and Accelerated Freefall instructor ratings as well as a Professional Exhibition rating. I’ve not only worked at multiple DZ’s from coast to coast, but I’ve played at many more.

I currently have just over 8100 skydives and don’t see myself quitting the sport anytime in the near future. I have a passion for just about every form of skydiving, from freeflying with friends, to 100+ way sequential, CRW to wingsuits, I’ve dabbled in just about everything this sport has to offer.
